PICK UP TIME – 2-30 PM, Airport
Once we reach Srinagar and get welcomed by our representative. We will leave for Sonamarg a 90-kms drive which takes approx. around 3 hours.
After breakfast, The trip will be gradual from here on out, taking you along the Sindh River and through maple and pine forests. You will be rewarded with spectacular views of the Sonamarg Valley and colourful streams after completing the journey through the trees. The walk then descends to the Shekdur Range, which is blanketed in snow.
Relax for a while in the area before beginning your walk to the Nichnai, which is roughly 11,500 feet above sea level.
Check into the campsite when you arrive at Nichnai.
Dinner and an overnight stay at the camp are included.
Start the journey towards the Nichnai Pass early in the morning, about 08:00 AM, and enjoy the spectacular views of the verdant valleys and the pristine beauty of the country.
After that, cross the river and continue climbing along the river’s banks until you reach the Nichnai
Pass or the Vishansar Berry.Witness and admire the precise beauty of the pass and the snow covered peaks all surrounding it when you arrive at the pass, which is positioned 13,500 metres above sea level.Following that, the trip descends steeply to a picturesque meadow of bright flowers; on the Kashmir Great Lakes trek, you can also get glimpses of a cascade that eventually joins a river. Continue forward with the hike, and when you reach a level valley, continue to the finish to reach the campsite. On the left side of the trail, there are stunning views of the Himalayan Range as well as Vishansar Lake.Stay the night in Vishansar Lake’s camp.
The route leads to the top of the ridge from the side of Kishansar Lake. Stick to the climbing track and follow the small trail that runs along the mountainside. Depending on your pace, you should be able to reach the peak in 1.5 to 2 hours. Soon, you’ll be treated to panoramic vistas of the Vishnusar and Kishansar lakes. It’s an uncommon sight, and it follows you all the way to the ridge’s end, Gadsar Pass.
Gadsar Pass, at 13,800 feet, is the highest point of the Kashmir Great Lakes Trek. The steep ascent takes around 2 hours, followed by a similarly steep descent that eases into a gentle stroll across the meadows.
In the distance, you can see some big and steep mountains that are outside our Line of Control. There will almost certainly be snow at the pass.
The first tiny lake on your left is Yamsar Lake. Another hour of descent leads to the meadows, which are flanked on both sides by two magnificent peaks. Beautiful flower colors crisscross the grassy meadow’s surface, an amalgamation of reds, blues, purples, and yellows. Gadsar is not distant once you enter the blue Iris area. It grows at the base of snow-capped mountains, with beautiful blue blooms blooming on the side. Snow slabs are falling down the mountain and into the lake on the opposite side! Camp at Gadsar for the night.
Begin the hike by crossing the brook and following the mountain route. The landscape here is very similar to that of the Western Ghats. The river valley and forest line are visible just under you. It’s a level tour of Maengandob, a location known for its deep craters. The breathtaking mountain and valley vistas will take your breath away. Satsar is made up of seven gorgeous lakes. The Satsar army check point is on the right side, directly adjacent to the ridge, where certain ID documents must be displayed once again. Ten minutes from the army station, the first Satsar lake appears. At Satsar, stay the night.
The track begins with a gentle climb and then alternates between ascents and descents. The walk to the Satsar Lake targets takes approximately a half-hour and consists primarily of boulder jumping. This is the trek’s final destination. As a magnificent woodland comes to the left, the route begins to decline. The route is undulating the entire way. As you get to the top of a mountain at 13,400 feet, you can see two lovely lakes side by side, the largest of which is Gangabal, which is accompanied by Nandkol. The trail climbs and descends several times before ending with a 1.5-hour steep drop into beautiful, verdant meadows.
Even though it is the final day of the Kashmir Great Lakes journey, it is arduous and taxing on the knees and toes. The route falls smoothly at first, then steeply the rest of the way. The trek to Naranag, the final destination of the trek, begins with a gradual descent, followed by a rapid descent through the jungle. The gradual descent takes you through the meadows of Trunkhol. Here you will find the government hut and waving meadows that lie within the mountains surrounding. It is lush greenery and is dotted with bright yellow flowers.
